BLACK HISTORY MONTH BAZAAR 2014
The Black History Month Bazaar was held on Thursday, February 27th, from 3/3:30-5:30. This Bazaar is the culminating event after a month of celebrating black heritage. The Bazaar had three components:
1. African American history and heritage themed games raising money for a well in Africa
2. Food from the African Diaspora
3. Performances from the Diaspora ("Lift Every Voice and Sing" HS and MS performance choir, "A Dream Deferred", "aMeRican", "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess, "Respect" as sung and performed by our own Aretha Franklin and b-girl dance combinations) and and Art Display from the Art classes
The Black History Month Bazaar was designed to raise money to buy a well for an African village through the entrance fee and ticket sales. Each clean water well cost $300. The Bazaar generated $475 dollars and Ms. Davis has offered to match that fundraising number with her own contribution. The entire fundraising event generated $950 that will be sent to buying multiples clean water wells in Africa. Congratulations young women! You continue to motivate and inspire through your leadership and community service. Enjoy pictures from the Bazaar below.
