8th Grade trip to Washington
Monday May 12-Wednesday May 14, 2014: The Close Up Network hosted a student trip to Washington.
Day One: Our 8th grade girls received the opportunity to visit several important sites in Washington as part of the Close Up Washington student program. On the last day they visited Capitol Hill and were able to experience democracy in action. We look forward to implementing this trip during the 2014-2015 school year with our next 8th grade class
Day Two: The first stop was the White House. The Close Up tour guides provide the girls with pre discussions and activities before every stop. The weather was 90 degrees and humid. Our girls are learning and having a great time. On to the Smithsonian museum next.
Day Three: Today is our last day and we are at Capital Hill. We will be meeting with NY senator Kirsten Gillibrand. The girls also had the opportunity to bond with students from Astoria, Brooklyn and East Harlem. We can't wait to do this trip again with our next year's 8th graders. The Close Up Network plans to visit our school in June to meet with students and families for next year's trip :)
